The Switch To Eclipse

Well, after all of this crap happened with my old ISP, we switched. I had been referred to “Eclipse Internet” through a friend, and searched around on Google and found very few negative reviews of them.

The MAC from our old supplier took about 3 days to be generated, and on the same evening of receiving it I headed over to the Eclipse site and registered up with our details. The free router arrived before the service, and I was able to get it connected up to our existing service. Obviously we would be using it as a spare, as there isn’t anything wrong with our Netgear DG834G, and the new router has only one Ethernet port. I think the service became active on about the 18th of September, as our internet cut out for a few days. On the 21st of September, I decided to try and contact Eclipse about the fact that we had no internet.

Looking back now it was probably a good job that their help center was closed around 8:00pm, because I realized that unlike with our previous provider the “Multiplexing Method” (whatever the hell that is) was set to LLC, and the Eclipse service is VC. No harm done, except we weren’t able to access the internet at all for around three days. Meh, learn by your mistakes. I have already switched over to the spam-free POP3 email account that they provide, an I’m probably not going to use the webspace seeing as it’s html only. It’s fast as hell though.

The router seems to be holding a stable connection now, and I haven’t had to quit anything I’m doing in the evening because of random disconnections. Although the website doesn’t have as many features as my previous supplier, I find it much more simple to use. The only times I’ve had to login so far are to check the billing status on my account, and activate webspace and email etc.

I’ve now given the service over 10 days to sort itself out, and the speed I’m getting is about the same as what I got with my old provider. If all you need is a fast unlimited service for only £25 a month, I highly recommend Eclipse (this package). Peace out.
